Happy 4th of July / June Wrap-Up

Hello my fellow book lovers,

Happy 4th of July from sunny South Florida. I am so happy that the month of June is finally over and done with, it was definitely a month to remember for the rest of our lives. June always represents half of the year gone by, and what a year 2020 has been thus far!!

During this past month, I unfortunately did not get to read as many books as I did during the month of May. Why do you ask? Well, I was definitely more focused in growing my Bookstagram followers and engagements, and really did lose focus on why I started this book blog to begin with, I wanted to read lots of books and review them. And what did I not do, read that many books in June.

Therefore, July will be different overall. I will read more books and focus on getting the ones I have promised to read and review on expeditiously.

Onto the 2 books I did read in June, which I truly loved.

I received the following two ARCs from the authors and NetGalley.

Here is my review on these two amazing books:

BOOK REVIEW| ISSUED | PARIS WYNTERS

Title: Issued Author: Paris Wynters Publication date: 25 June 2020 My rating: ★★★★ Goodreads rating: 4.09 Pages: 322 Genre: Military Romanca

Issued by Paris Wynters

Issued, the first book in the Navy Seals of Little Creek series, tells the story of Jim, an injured SEAL, and Taya, the woman who captures his heart. The main characters participate in a spouse-matching program made up by the Seals themselves. Taya joins the program after her best friend killed her father and burned down her home. Taya was determined to start over and started looking for a safe place to hide, lo and behold, she signed up for the spouse matching program to find a suitable husband.

The book starts out slowly at first by introducing Jim and Taya, but it quickly picks up. Taya and Jim are different from each other, and I loved seeing how their attraction to one another was presented by Paris Wynters in the many times they encountered or saw each other as husband and wife. Jim and Taya learn to admire and trust each other with time and perseverance. It is so warm and nice to see their arranged marriage develop and grow through each chapter. Taya and Jim’s chemistry is undeniable, they complement each other nicely and the love and support they have for one another is commendable. I loved Jim and Taya’s story and cannot wait for Book # 2 of the series, I hope it is just as exciting and steamy as this one. An ARC of the book was given to me by Book Funnel, which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks so much to the author, Paris Wynters, for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I cannot wait until Book # 2, Matched, comes out to read the story of Tony and Inara.

Book Review| A Royal Second Chance Summer | Viv Royce

Title: A Royal Second Chance Summer Author: Viv Royce Publication date: 22 June 2020 My rating: ★★★★ Goodreads rating: 3.79 Pages: 165 Genre: Small Town Romance An ARC of the book was given to me by Book Funnel, which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks so much to the author, Paris Wynters, for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

The moment Nicolas steps into this new town, Lizzie sends the cops to arrest him because he looks suspicious. Lizzie is the town's antiques dealer. She saw him meandering and wandering outside the property she was working on, could he be a thief coming to steak from this deceased’s woman’s valuables?! Lizzie was not waiting around to find out, so she called the cops, who then arrested poor Nicolas. Nicolas is immediately mesmerized and smitten by Lizzie, as she with him. What a cute idea of them meeting and liking each other, but not knowing how the other one feels.

Lizzie agrees to help Nicholas look for an antique "bird of paradise" that belonged to his grandfather and he gave it away years ago. Nicholas agrees to help Lizzie with the 4th of July preparations at her town if she will help him find the bird of paradise for his grandfather.

I absolutely loved this book and its romantic feel. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially those who wish on meeting Prince Charming! This is the perfect book to read today for the 4th of July background plot line.

I received an ARC of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Viv Royce for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book.
